Converting your vintage Vespa to electric requires no new registration or license plate change. The kit is fully approved under the Retrofit Decree (Ministerial Decree July 26, 2022): the process works just like installing an LPG system on a car, preserving your original VIN and license plate—even historic square or 6-digit plates. After installation by a mechanic, all it takes is a quick vehicle inspection at the licensing office (Motorizzazione) to update the fuel type on your logbook from petrol to electric—allowing you to ride legally right away, with zero bureaucratic hassle.
